Department of Medicine Weekly Roundup - May 15 - Temerty Medicine Announces New Learner Management System
Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that Temerty Medicine has signed a contract with LGI Healthcare Solutions to provide a new Learner Management System to replace MedSIS and POWER. We are starting work immediately with LGI to plan a transition to the new LMS for implementation mid 2026. The new solution for both the MD Program (MD) and Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) is LGI Education (MedSIS 3C).
Since 2022, the Medical Education Information Technology Transformation (MEITT) Steering Committee, chaired by the Vice Dean, Medical Education, and supporting working teams have had the shared project vision to consolidate existing legacy systems (MedSIS and POWER) and various fragmented IT system across MD and PGME.
After a rigorous RFP process overseen by the MEITT Steering Committee, and extensive negotiations, supported by legal services and procurement, LGI Healthcare Solutions emerged as the successful vendor. Over the next few months, we will develop implementation steps to transition from the current legacy systems to a new, fully integrated system that enables core and ancillary functions of medical education while optimizing the user experience, training outcomes, operational efficiency and facilitating the collection of data to inform ongoing quality assurance and reporting.
This transformational change will be one of the largest, most complex initiatives in our faculty’s history involving MD, PGME and the clinical departments, working in close collaboration with MedIT. The project will require a structured and well-coordinated approach to meet the needs and objectives of all our communities and support alignment that facilitates the project vision.
We are assembling a project team of skilled and knowledgeable staff from the MD Program, PGME and MedIT to lead this implementation in collaboration with LGI and will keep you apprised of key steps and milestones along the way.
I look forward to a successful implementation that transforms our IT infrastructure and better supports our programmatic operations and our faculty, staff, and learners.
Sincerely
Patricia Houston
