Department of Medicine Weekly Roundup - June 13 - New Information - Planned SMH VPN Downtime - June 18 (9-10pm EST)
Dear Colleagues,
Trevor has asked that I let you know that this upcoming downtime is going to have a broader impact than initially anticipated – please share the info below with your divisional members.
Thanks!
Sharon
>> This downtime is likely more impactful that originally thought because will also impact SPOK.
>>
>> SPOK paging will be offline during that hour. People will need to go through locating to reach people and services/individuals on that night will need to use cell phones/physical pagers to be reached during that hour.

We’re planning a critical upgrade to the SMH firewall, which will require an SMH network downtime on Tuesday, June 18th from 9-10pm EST.
This downtime will mainly impact users requiring remote access, as there will be no access to our network and systems through the SMH VPN or Citrix. Those working onsite should still be able to access the internal systems and resources as per usual – with no interruption. Remote users will only be able to log via the SJHC VPN network (see instructions attached).
We wanted to be sure you’re aware, in case this has an impact to any Epic-related activities. For the most part, if you circulate the attached tip sheet, then Epic and Unity staff working on Project Connect should be able to continue with business as usual through the SJHC VPN. You can ask a couple of key team members to test this in advance to be sure they have no issues. Otherwise, please let us know if you have questions, or can think of other critical stakeholders we should engage.
FYI – We are also currently reaching out to specific stakeholders (listed below) for awareness, to communicate to their onsite/offsite staff, and to identify resources to test the new firewall after cutover that evening. Let us know if there are other key stakeholders you can think of, or if you’d like to set up a call to discuss.
