Department of Medicine Weekly Roundup - March 20 - Creative Professional Activity Day, April 1, 2025
CPA Day
April 1, 2025 | 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm | via Zoom
This is no April Fools' joke—CPA Day is set to be one of the most exciting learning events of the year! For one hour, we will showcase exceptional Creative Professional Activity work from faculty, with opportunities for networking, questions, and learning how CPA can accelerate your academic potential. All CFAR candidates and those applying for appointment or promotion are strongly encouraged to attend this Zoom event.
What is CPA Anyway?
Creative Professional Activity (CPA) is a broad term that encompasses:
Contributions to the Development of Professional Practices: Examples include health policy development, regulatory committees, and setting standards.
Exemplary Professional Practice: This includes teaching techniques, educational innovations, curriculum development, and models of care innovations (e.g., the role of EMR prompts, standardized pathways, pre-printed patient order sets) that impact the quality and safety of inpatient care or resident experience. It also includes leadership in the development of professional practice, such as tools to enhance physician communication and professionalism.
Professional Innovation and Creative Excellence: Examples include patient videos, curriculum innovations, and the use of digital technologies or other devices to improve care and outcomes.
The speakers and presenters for this year's event include:
Michael Fralick: “Trial Files: Leveraging AI to keep Internists up to date on Practice Changing Randomized Trials”
Esther Bui: “myTE - Empowering Teachers to Learn Through Low-stakes, Timely Feedback Opportunities”
Alice Kam: “Interprofessional Compassion Medical Education: Are they learning? How to make this sustainable?”
Katrina Piggott: QI project to improve rates of reassessment
