Department of Medicine Weekly Roundup - March 17 - Kieran McIntyre - Physician Lead – Quality Improvement & Operational Excellence
Thanks to a generous philanthropic donation from Ruth and Douglas Grant, three part-time Physician Lead roles have been established, focusing on quality, care experience, and patient safety. These roles aim to strengthen physician engagement in these critical areas and help achieve key healthcare priorities. We are excited to introduce the inaugural Physician Leads in these areas.
Dr. Zamin Ladha – Physician Lead – Patient Safety
Dr. Ladha is a pediatrician at St. Joseph’s. He brings long-standing focus and achievements in patient safety. This includes learning and improving from pediatric emergency reviews, the use of simulation to enhance interprofessional team preparedness and creating safer environments for staff, physicians and learners.
Dr. Kieran McIntyre - Physician Lead – Quality Improvement & Operational Excellence
Dr. McIntrye is a respirologist at St. Michael’s. He brings extensive experience in quality improvement with a Masters in QI from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. Dr. McIntyre has also led many quality improvement projects with St. Michael’s and across healthcare institutions.
Dr. Samuel Vaillancourt – Physician Lead – Care Experience Measurement & Improvement
Dr. Vaillancourt is an emergency department physician and trauma team leader at St. Michael’s. He has had a long-standing academic focus on data science, research and quality improvement with a focus on human-centred care. Dr. Vaillancourt also led the development of Patient-Reported Outcome Measure for the Emergency Department (PROM-ED).
Over the coming weeks all three Physician Leads will begin reaching out to Chiefs and Division Heads to introduce themselves and their role. Please join us in welcoming all three to their new roles.
