Unity Health has been alerted to a high-risk vulnerability with FortiClient – the VPN used by many Unity Health staff, physicians and learners to access our network systems. To mitigate this concern, all Unity Health staff, physicians and learners who use FortiClient are instructed to upgrade to the latest version of the VPN by Monday, November 27.

Instructions on how to upgrade to the latest version of FortiClient can be found in the attached document.

Please note: Staff, physicians and learners who do not upgrade to the latest version of FortiClient by Nov. 27 may experience connectivity issues. Please upgrade your VPN before Monday to avoid disruption.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Vivek Paul, Operations Leader,  IT Security.

Please refer to the Safety First Tip Sheet for Reporting Patient Safety Events.

Thank you to DOM members who have signed up for a role with the rollout of the new EPR – EPIC.  A reminder to those of you with a contracted role that pays a stipend, these funds need to flow through the SMPA as it is income.  We have learned that UHT is providing you with direct payment. Please either forward the payments to the SMPA or report the income to Jessie Zhao.

The Council on Anti-Racism, Equity and Social Accountability (CARESA) Education Working Group is a multi-disciplinary group whose purpose is to uphold Unity Health Toronto’s vision for embedding anti-racism, equity, and social accountability (ARESA) into the culture of the organization through education and training. In 2022-2023 this Working Group’s objectives focused on developing and implementing foundational ARESA Education & Training initiatives. In addition, the office of ARESA has partnered with the Education portfolio to develop tools to support Unity Health staff, physicians, learners and volunteers to address micro-aggressions and other forms of discriminatory mistreatment in the workplace.

Click here for a briefing note for leaders with information about the Renewed Equity Orientation Module and the Mistreatment Toolkit. Please engage in these learning opportunities, integrate the tools into your workplace, and share them with your peers and teams. Please contact [email protected] for more information and additional education offerings.
