The Office of Anti-Racism, Equity, and Social Accountability in partnership with Agape Consulting is offering healing circle sessions for Black staff, physicians, learners, and volunteers. Healing circles or spaces can be beneficial for many folks to heal within their communities. For this session, Agape is committed to fostering a space of joy and healing, where people of African descent may begin to embrace, relate and honour their authentic selves through communal healing. Research indicates that spaces strictly created for Black communities are both necessary and supportive, in helping Black bodies process anti-Black racism in order to move from a place of surviving to thriving.

One of the commitments of the Black Experiences Report Workplan outlined how we can improve the experiences of Black staff, physicians, learners, and volunteers through wellness supports and healing circles have been identified as a way of creating intentional space to heal from racial trauma. We recognize it may be difficult for staff to take part in a 2-hour sessions and encourage leaders to make the appropriate accommodations to support their staff if they are interested in participating. If you have any challenges in accommodating staff for the sessions, please email the ARESA Office at [email protected].

These sessions will take place virtually on Zoom, limited spots are available.
