Dr. Adam MacLellan:  Adam is joining the Division of Neurology as a Clinician Teacher and Assistant Professor as of July 1, 2023.  He obtained his MD at Western University in 2012, completed his adult Neurology residency at the University of Toronto in 2017, followed by a two-year Vascular Neurology Clinical and Research Fellowship at Stanford University.  Since 2019, Adam has been a Staff Physician in General and Stroke Neurology for the Vancouver Island Health Authority and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology, where he has taken the lead to help build the stroke program locally and regionally on Vancouver Island. Adam played an instrumental role in the development and implementation of a dedicated Stroke Service for Vancouver Island to complement the evolving endovascular stroke program. Moving from a shared model to independent stroke service, the program showed improvements in multiple quality indicators, and, as a member of the recruitment committee, assisted in the recruitment of several new stroke neurologists, leading to the expansion of this service to 24/7 dedicated stroke coverage as of July 2022. Adam also holds an excellent record in resident and trainee education and mentorship with the UBC Island Medical Program and supervises UBC Neurology residents.

Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time exploring the great outdoors with his husband, Frank, and their energetic white lab, Truman.
