We are very pleased to announce that Daniel Huang has been selected to be our 2024-2025 Chief Resident.

Orly Bogler will be our incoming Chief Resident for the next academic year 2023-2024.

A very special thanks to our current Chief, Grace Wang.  The Chief Residents are a key part of the medicine residency team, providing invaluable leadership, teaching and support for our trainees. Our incoming chiefs join a strong tradition of resident leadership, and we look forward to their contributions to the Department of Medicine.

Dear Colleagues:

The MD Program is embarking on a pilot of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) for clerkship students beginning in March 2023 with a plan for full implementation as of September 2023. There are 12 EPAs for clerkship students developed by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), common to all specialties.

Similar to EPAs in PGME, the MD program will be using Elentra as the IT platform. The guideline is for 50% of EPAs to be completed by faculty, with the remainder to be completed by residents, fellows and clinical associates. The MD program and PGME have collaborated to align the workflow and processes associated with EPA completion. However, it should be noted that clerks will be rated on a 4-point rating scale (as opposed to the 5-point scale in PGME), and no milestones are assessed.

A newsletter, together with Qs and As, for residents and fellows is attached. Questions related to this initiative can be directed to the MD Program Office of Evaluation and Assessment.

Sincerely,

MEREDITH GIULIANI (She/Her/Hers) MBBS, MEd, PhD, FRCPC, DRCPSC
Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education
Associate Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology
